GWW one of the 10 largest tax advisory firms in Poland

In Friday’s issue of Rzeczpospolita, a ranking of tax advisory firms was published, confirming GWW’s position in the top 10 largest tax law firms in Poland.

We were in the lead in terms of:

  • the number of tax advisers, as well as
  • revenue generated for 2023.

Last year’s growth in the number of clients, including listed companies, earned us an honourable 3rd place, in another category. In the list of tax leaders serving the highest number of listed companies, we ranked on the podium, right next to two Big Four firms.

Why is tax advice particularly important in listed companies?
– Listed companies by their very nature are in the limelight and are watched not only by investors, but also by the tax authorities. The support of tax advisors is therefore indispensable there. Especially as these companies, due to their size and growth needs, are more often parties to complex transactions,” says Artur Cmoch.

We are in third place in terms of the number of listed companies we serve: Deloitte was also on the podium last year, but fell to sixth this year. In contrast, an impressive rise from seventh to third place was recorded by GWW, which increased the number of listed clients year-on-year from 30 to 58 (+93 per cent).

GWW team in the Ranking of Firms and Tax Advisers organised by Dziennik Gazeta Prawna.

We share with you another success of the GWW team in the ranking of firms and tax advisers organised by Dziennik Gazeta Prawna.

In this year’s 18th edition of the ranking, representatives of our law firm were among the winners. The ranking chapter, on the basis of the questionnaires submitted, selected the top tax advisers, taking into account the application of innovative solutions in complex, unique and socially important cases and leading to groundbreaking rulings or changes in the approach of the tax authorities. On the basis of this the following were selected:

Małgorzata Militz – who was awarded third place among tax advisors in the VAT category

Mariusz Tkaczyk – who received a distinction in the CIT category

Among the best tax advisory firms, the GWW law firm won third place in as many as three categories altogether:

  • Third place in the category of tax disputes before courts and tax authorities – as we read in today’s edition of the DGP, the chapter appreciated the GWW team , “among other things, for bringing about two judgments of the Supreme Administrative Court concerning the admissibility of filing an appeal against a decision issued at the request of a taxpayer on the conditions for withdrawal of the effects of tax avoidance. In both cases, the head of the National Tax Administration argued that such an appeal would contradict the essence of this institution and, moreover, work to the disadvantage of a party and its acceptance would result in a violation of the prohibition of reformationis in peius. However, the taxpayers believed that they had not engaged in tax avoidance and that the filing of the applications was forced upon them by the provisions of the Tax Code. The NSA sided with them.”
  • Third place in the category of largest tax advisory firms in 2023, in terms of number of substantive employees
  • Third place in the category of largest tax advisory firms in 2023 in terms of revenue

Huge congratulations to the awardees as well as to the entire GWW team.

In depth: Private Wealth and Private Client Review | Edition 12

In depth: Private Wealth and Private Client Review is a prestigious publication that brings together key legal issues from a private client perspective, such as a description of recent changes, key features of domestic tax systems or succession mechanisms in a particular country.

Each chapter of the publication has been written by representatives from different countries and is dedicated to a specific jurisdiction. The authors are recognised specialists in their respective fields. The Polish part of the recently published 12th edition focuses on the legal and practical issues of private wealth management and was prepared by GWW Partner and Attorney-at-law Aldona Leszczyńska-Mikulska and Attorney-at-Law Tomasz Krzywański.

One of the topics addressed by the Polish lawyers is the polish family foundation, which is still relatively new in Polish legislation, so we therefore encourage you to familiarise yourself with the publication.
