Online trainings – construction law

As part of our cooperation with the Lower Silesian District Chamber of Architects, we organize online trainings. Last Friday, a construction law expert Joanna Sebzda-Załuska, attorney-at-law and managing partner of GWW, took up the challenge to record training on obtaining use permits and professional liability in construction industry. Talking to an empty room is the biggest challenge and what do you miss? Of course, listeners’ questions 🙂

The training will be made available to architects from all over the country.

Support for healthcare workers participating in the fight against the epidemic

The Dorastaj z Nami Foundation, of which GWW Law Firm is a partner, supports families of public servants on a daily basis, including by financing educational scholarships for children or offering psychological care. Now it is expanding this activity and extending its support to medical workers fighting COVID-19 and their children. The Foundation will provide medical staff with, among other things, psychological help line, free legal advice, and discounts on fuel.

According to data of the Chief Sanitary Inspector, as many as 461 doctors, nurses and medical workers in Poland are infected with coronavirus, and 4.5 thousand are quarantined. Every sixth confirmed case of infection concerns a healthcare professional. Unfortunately, on 16 April this year, a first medical worker died in Radom, namely a 46-year-old physiotherapist infected with coronavirus. Within the framework of the extended scope of activities, our Foundation will take care of the family of the first fatal victim of coronavirus among healthcare professionals.

Tax residency during lockdown

The number of days that we spend in one country during a tax year is one of the most important factors taken into account when determining the place of residence of a natural person for tax purposes, i.e. tax residence. Due to movement restrictions, for example, closing of borders and suspension or limitation of air traffic, many people are currently in a country where they do not have – or did not plan to have in 2020 – tax residence.

Refund of EU funds versus abrogation of financial correction

Project irregularities lead to the determination of a financial correction and cancellation of part of or whole amount of EU aid granted. It happens that beneficiaries return funds within the time limit set for this purpose, despite the fact that they negate the existence of irregularities. Can they seek to abrogate the financial correction after such a return of funds?

In the April issue of the Finanse Publiczne magazine, you will find an article on "Refund of EU funds versus abrogation of financial correction" by Grzegorz Karwatowicz, an expert on EU funds and public aid.
